Kate grew up in Southern California and started flying aircraft when she was only 13 years old. Having a hobby that was not gender stereotypical didn't stop her, but she wondered why not many women were in aviation.
Kate witnessed a fatal fighter jet crash when she was in high school. Her focused shifted from how to fly to how to make flying safer. She earned degrees in Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Management. She has worked with cargo aircraft, business jets, helicopters, and unmanned aviation.
Kate ventured out on her own in 2015 starting her own tutoring firm. She works with supplemental education and one-on-one tutoring in the STEM field.
Kate lives in Arlington, Texas with her spouse and their rescue schnauzer, Jack. She insists she has a green thumb (no need to list all the plants that have died on her watch) and prefers to grow her own vegetables when she can.
A firm believer in lending a helping hand to the next generation, Kate has participated in many volunteer activities. She works with HOPE Tutoring providing her skills pro bono because she believes that education can help students out of economic troubles. Kate is a long time member of the Society of Women Engineers where she is currently serving in a strategic role.
